Types of Korean Perms

There are a lot of styles of Korean perms, but the three main types you should be aware of first are: traditional perm, digital perm, and setting perm.

1. Traditional Perm (Cold Perm)

A traditional perm is a perming technique that does not involve the use of heat. So, it’s known as a “cold perm.” The hair should be wrapped around rods before applying a reduction lotion containing ammonium thioglycolate. It enhances the wave when the hair is wet and loosens it when it is dry.

3. Setting Perm (Hot Perm)

Your hair will require some time to fully set after your perm. Make sure you wait three days before getting your hair wet because it takes that long for the perming chemicals to form new bonds. It is also advised to wait a week before doing any type of styling.
